BMX Tricks
BMX bikes can be especially designed to do a range of tricks and stunts. These tricks and stunts are generally a part of freestyle BMX riding which usually falls into four categories - Flatland, Ramp, Park and Dirt Street. Some of the most popular basic BMX tricks include:
- Barspin - this trick involves spinning your handlebars around 90, 180 or 360 degrees. To do this grip your left hand side handlebar with your right hand and spin the bars back and forth.
- Bunnyhop - this trick involves getting both of your bike's wheels off the ground from a level start. To do bunnyhops pull the handlebars up to get the front wheel in the air and then lift the back of your bike up with your legs.
- Endo - here you ride your bike slowly up to the pavement's curb. As your front tyre meets the curb you need to lean forward so your weight tips to the front of the bike. This should bring your back wheel off the ground - the aim here is to hold this position as long as you can.
- Foot Plant - here you need to ride towards an object such as a wall and to start bunnyhopping. When you reach the object use a foot to push down on it to push yourself in the opposite direction.
- Pogo - the pogo trick involves making your bike hop along. The easiest way to do this is to stand upright on the pegs at the front of your bike whilst moving and then brake quickly.
- Wheelie - to do a wheelie start riding and then pull your handlebars up so your front wheel leaves the ground.
- X-Up - to do this trick you need to be in the air either coming off a ramp or in a different trick. In the air, turn your handlebars 180 degrees in one direction and then 180 degrees in the other direction.
